What is Erythritol? It is a sweetener that is 60 - 70% sweeter than sugar. It is a white powdered crystalline that resembles table sugar in look and texture.

Erythritol is a sugar alcohol. It is allowed by the FDA to be used as a sweetener. So it is now used in many food and drug products as an additive. Erythritol is a fruit, plant, and fermented derived natural bulk sweetener that has almost no calories (0.2 calories per gram according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration —or aftertaste.

Erythritol is usually made from plant sugars. Sugar is mixed with water and then fermented with a natural yeast into erythritol. It is then filtered, allowed to crystallize, and then dried.
